Day THIRTEEN: Worship that Pleases God

I don’t feel well. I feel terrible. I am emotionally a bit of a wreck today and physically…well…I think my bronchitis is acting up. I have had a bone rattling cough for the last 6 days and a head cold. I think I need about 24 hours of undisturbed sleep, but that is just not going to happen, so I power on. As for my emotional state…it comes with the territory. I am making life altering choices and decisions, and I am determined to live life according to God’s word, so there are days when my faith weighs heavily. I whisper to myself “Peace be still” and instead I hear Medea with her “Piece be Steal.”

Day 13: Worship that pleases God

Point to Ponder: God wants all of me.

Verse to Remember: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” Mark 12:30

Question to Consider: Which is more pleasing to God right now – my public worship or my private worship? What will I do about this?

Today’s chapter is about getting up and doing your part even though you are tired. Today’s chapter is about your life being your walk with God. We are all faced with similar challenges in the day to day activities of life no matter if we are a minister, a student, a lawyer, a drunk, or a mom. We have to get up, have the strength to survive the day and the will to repeat the process tomorrow. Each of those same people has a choice to how they are going to live those days. Will they have one face for the world and one for behind closed doors; or will the person they are on the outside be the same as they are on the inside? When you are living your life in complete obedience you do not have one face for God and one for man because through your actions and by your faith you are to show your faith to both God and man.

The chapter describes the scene in John, chapter 4, when the Samaritan woman is speaking to Jesus about the best time, place, and ways to worship and Jesus’ replied, “The Father is looking for anyone who will worship him [in any] way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” The chapter states that “God is please when our worship is accurate…authentic… thoughtful…and practical.” In other words God wants us to worship as we are commanded to three times, in each of the first three gospels.

My bible titles it “The Most Important Commandment”
Matthew 22 verses 37-40; Mark 12 verses 29-31; Luke 10 verses 26-29

“Jesus replied, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your
heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and
greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your
neighbor as yourself.’ All the other commandments and all the
demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

So to keep this short and sweet, let me just say that it is not about public or private worship, it is about worshipping with your entire being mind, body and soul. It is about worshipping God as he is not how you perceive him to be. It is about carrying that worshipping spirit with you every step of your journey and remembering that everything you do you do for Him.
